Educação sexual e seu impacto na prevenção de ISTs e gravidez na adolescência

Resumo

A adolescência é uma fase de transição marcada por mudanças físicas, emocionais e psicológicas, onde a compreensão da sexualidade é crucial para um desenvolvimento saudável. Apesar da atividade sexual precoce ser comum, muitos adolescentes não estão preparados, aumentando os riscos de ISTs e gravidezes indesejadas. Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar como uma educação sexual fundamentada em direitos pode capacitar os jovens a tomarem decisões informadas e promover sua saúde. A metodologia adotada consistiu em uma revisão bibliográfica qualitativa descritiva, utilizando bases de dados acadêmicas como PubMed, Scopus e Google Scholar, com foco na eficácia da educação sexual. Foram selecionados artigos originais e gratuitos, publicados em português ou inglês, garantindo a qualidade da informação. A pesquisa foi realizada em outubro de 2024, visando fortalecer a importância da educação sexual em escolas e comunidades. A educação sexual é essencial para promover comportamentos saudáveis entre adolescentes, mas frequentemente se limita a conteúdos de abstinência ou instruções abrangentes. Programas baseados apenas em abstinência falham em fornecer informações necessárias sobre contraceptivos, o que pode aumentar a vulnerabilidade a ISTs e gravidezes indesejadas. Fatores como acesso restrito a serviços de saúde e as características próprias da adolescência, como a busca por identidade, amplificam esses riscos, especialmente em países em desenvolvimento. A literatura evidencia que uma educação sexual abrangente é eficaz na redução dessas taxas, promovendo o adiamento da iniciação sexual e o uso de métodos contraceptivos. Contudo, a carga horária de instrução nas escolas é muitas vezes insuficiente. Assim, é crucial que políticas públicas priorizem currículos abrangentes e envolvam comunidades e pais para criar um ambiente favorável à educação sexual.
